International Forensic Psychiatrics Cooperation

Following last year’s meeting in The Hague, we are delighted to invite you to the 22nd Ghent Group Meeting, which will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 17 to 19 September 2026.

This year’s meeting will focus on the balance between structure and discretion in forensic psychiatry at the macro-, meso-, and micro-levels. In keeping with the spirit of the Ghent Group, the program will place particular emphasis on mutual discussion, the exchange of experience, and reflection on different national approaches, alongside an introduction to the Czech forensic psychiatric context.
We have secured a hotel near Prague’s historic center that will provide a calm setting for professional discussions. We also plan to include a visit to Bohnice Hospital in Prague and have invited several key experts to introduce the organization of mental health care within both the healthcare and prison systems.

Based on our experience from previous years, we have placed less emphasis on service visits and greater emphasis on discussion and informal exchange, which remain at the heart of Ghent Group meetings.
